Welcome to our carp fishing venue in Brittany,
Etang du Vaulaurent is a private carp fishing lake of 12 ha that offers 8 swims which each can easily accommodate two anglers. Our largely wooded property is situated in a small rural valley 2 km from the small and pretty village of Saint Martin Sur Oust in the heart of the Morbihan (Southern Brittany). This natural venue is ideal for anglers who wish to fish lakeside with their Bivvies and enjoy the wildlife in a peaceful and quiet environment. For guests that may like to enjoy a bit more comfort, swims 1 and 2 come with the possibility of renting a lakeside fully equipped cabin. An extra large cabin, which can accommodate up to 4 guests, is also available, however, it is not situated on any particular swim but is ideal for the anglers’ families for example.
Since 2012, when we acquired the property, we have made some considerable improvements for the comfort of our guests. Now anglers can enjoy new swims and pathways to access each swim. All swims are completely fenced off for tranquility and safety with no ‘right of ways’ for walkers. We have also upgraded our washing facilities. We now feel that our venue is a dream destination for carp anglers looking to enjoy an unforgettable fishing adventure in France.
In the past, the lake was used to supply the nearby mill which has now long been out of use. This very old lake benefits from an extremely well balanced ecosystem. The lake has various lily patches and overhanging trees, the depth of the lake ranges from 1.5m to 3.5m at its deepest. The lake has long been renowned for its superb pike and zander fishing along with various other species. In more recent years, previous owners have maintained the lake as a carp fishing venue and have repopulated the water with mirror and common carp and since 2012 we have introduced over 300 extra fish.
The Fish
L’ Etang du Vaulaurent has a high number of mirror carp, common carp, linears and fullys. The lake record at the moment stands at 33 kg (72 lbs) caught on Swim 8. Currently our largest common carp stand at 22 kg (48.5 lbs). It is estimated that Etang du Vaulaurent has around fifteen fish larger than 22 kg (48.5 lbs) with a lot fish weighing in between 16 kg (35 lbs) and 20 kg (44 lbs).
Fishing Licences
Etang du Vaulaurent is an entirely privately owned property, however, the three streams that run into the lake are public water therefore all anglers are required to have a valid licence to fish this venue. These can be provided upon your arrival or can be bought in advance.
